Here is the published painting (see sketch from previous blog post) honoring Kim Allen's "Supreme Champion" versatility award in the American Quarter Horse Journal (June). It was originally designed for the magazine cover, but they found a lovely close up photo of Kim & her horse to use instead. Shoot, a cover would have been great, but so it goes in the world of illustration. Fortunately the painting also works without the cover text so it ends up as a nice full page leader for the story anyway.
